A recent survey by market research firm, Interactive Media Strategies, of
over 1200 corporate executives finds that large enterprises are generating
significant savings and improving corporate communications using online
multimedia communications.

The IMS study showed that internal communications, specifically executive
presentations and employee training, still rank highest when it comes to
deploying online multimedia communications. As Accordent has seen with its own
clients, several of whom are mentioned in the IMS study, the more that
enterprises use multimedia online communications, the more likely they are to
migrate to new and innovative applications of the technology.

On October 23rd, Accordent hosted Forrester Research analyst, Claire
Schooley, Intel webcast architect, Wayne Waterman and KLA-Tencor multimedia
producer, Jeff Hanley, for a live webinar discussion on the growing impact of
web-based learning on the enterprise.

The panel of experts discussed best practices for planning, designing, and
deploying a Web 2.0 communications initiative, as well as the logistics of
managing and controlling content to ensure that corporate security, compliance,
network and usage policies are preserved.
With more than 350 registrants, representing a distinguished mix of
enterprises, universities, and resellers, the webinar provided a forum for
panelist discussion of 2.0 strategies in the enterprise as well as an
interactive forum for attendees to submit questions in real time. The webcast
was delivered using Accordent PresenterPRO „¢ and the Accordent Media Management
System „¢. Viewers enjoyed a custom-designed user interface that included a larger
video window, the ability to submit questions to presenters, and the choice of
Windows or Real media streams.

First used to describe a group of web technologies,"Web 2.0" has evolved to describe technology that empowers individuals to contribute to a greater collective goal. While Web 2.0 has famously been tied to the relatively unregulated worlds of user-generated content and social networking, these same technologies are now rapidly and profoundly impacting traditional business, as well as educational and government organizations. The promise of Web 2.0 for knowledge sharing within organizations is undeniable. The new generation of solutions for online communications, collaborative content creation, and content sharing provide the unprecedented ability to harness the individual knowledge of an organization's brightest minds for the collective good. And nowhere is this promise more evident than in the field of training, where "trainers" historically have struggled not only to deliver critical information in a rapidly evolving and widely distributed professional environment, but also to actively engage audiences to achieve the ideal exchange of information. In this white paper,we'll explore how real-world organizations have successfully deployed online training initiatives that simultaneously exploit the benefits of "inclusive"new technologies while maintaining security, integrity, and consistency of information, as well as asset and resource control.
